A person who drives a mechanically propelled vehicle dangerously on a road or other public place is guilty of an offence
The meaning of dangerous driving is when a person's standard of driving falls far below what would be expected of a competent and careful driver and it would be obvious to a competent and careful driver that driving in that way would be dangerous.
The following are examples of when a person could be driving dangerously:
racing, going too fast, or driving aggressively;
ignoring traffic lights, road signs or warnings from other passengers;
overtaking in a very dangerous manner;
driving under the influence of drink or drugs, including prescription drugs;
driving when unfit, including having an injury, being unable to see clearly, not taking prescribed drugs, or being sleepy.
If you would like to challenge a driving offence at Court, or before it reaches Court, we highly recommend you speak to one of our solicitors and we are here to assist you.
